Daily media coverage is keeping the COVID-19 virus top of mind. While our society faces a serious health challenge, I wanted to reach out to you personally and assure you that, as of today, our office remains a safe space for all of your dental needs.
There is no higher priority to us than the safety of our patients and employees. We are closely following the American Dental Association, Centers for Disease Control, and the World Health Organization to stay well-informed of this evolving situation. According to the most recent information from the CDC, for most people, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to be low.
Dental offices are uniquely prepared to manage illness. We follow the strictest ADA and OSHA Standard Infection Control measures as part of our daily routine. From cleaning down examination rooms and sterilizing all reusable instruments to wearing masks and gloves, our dental office is one of the safest places you can be in a season of higher exposure to illness. In addition, we have enhanced our nightly routine to include hospital-grade disinfectant, outside the operatories as well, cleaning door handles and countertops.
Maintaining good dental health is essential to preserving your overall health. Gum and tooth disease can be contributing factors to chronic conditions. The COVID-19 virus is attacking people who are immunocompromised with more severity, highlighting the need to prioritize good oral health early and often to prevent against future exposure.
If you currently feel sick, please reschedule your dental appointment and call your physician. This is especially true if you have a fever, cough, sneezing, or shortness of breath. The same applies if you have had any of these symptoms in the last 48 hours.
