What to Expect During Your First Visit

During your first visit, we’ll perform a comprehensive oral exam and teeth cleaning. One of our hygienists will clean your teeth and keep a close eye out for any potential issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and other common concerns. Dr. Friberg may also ask about your overall health and recommend x-rays if he needs a closer look and more accurate information to diagnose any issues. Then, Dr. Friberg will discuss his findings and help you understand your level of oral health. He always takes the time to answer any questions you may have and makes sure that you feel informed and well-equipped to make the best decisions for your dental health.

When to Schedule Your Child’s First Appointment

The American Dental Association recommends that you bring your child in for their first oral exam when their first tooth emerges, or when they turn 12 months old, whichever comes first. This may seem early, but bringing your child in for an appointment at this time will allow Dr. Friberg to learn more about their oral development, clean their gums and teeth, and ensure that they are free of any potentially oral health issues. If your child is 1 or older and they haven’t seen a dentist for their first exam, now is the perfect time to start the journey to optimal dental health!

The Importance of Early and Preventive Care

Bringing your child to the dentist early and often has a number of benefits. First, your child will become more familiar with the process of a dental appointment, which helps prevent dental anxiety in the future. Dr. Friberg and our team will also get to know you and your kids, and your unique dental health challenges. This way, we will be able to address these concerns each time your family visits and we will track your dental health over time. Preventive care can also save you time and money, because it allows us to catch issues early and prevent these conditions from progressing into bigger, more costly problems.
